Next Play: A modern take on Battle of the Bands is your chance to bring your music to life, connect with the local music scene, and compete for incredible prizes. Whether you’re a soloist or part of a band, this competition is all about passion, performance, and making your mark. Let’s turn up the volume and bring the house down!

Eligibility
- You must live within 130 km of your chosen competition location.
- At least 75% of your band members or performers must be 18 years old or younger.
Entry Fee
- $50.00 per duo/band
- $25.00 per solo singer/songwriter

Registration
Eligibility
- All genres are welcome for both bands and solo acts.
- Members must meet the age and residency requirements (proof of residency required).
- Original music is not required but earns higher scores.
- School District Bands are not eligible. Ensemble break-offs are welcome.
How to Register
- Fill out the online form and pay the registration fee at: https://www.fisherpeakperformingartists.com/next-play-registration/
- Registration is limited to the first 8 performers per location and closes on February 28th, 2025.

Performance Rules
Set Length
- 15 minutes of performance time. 2-3 songs per performer.
- 10 minutes for setup and 5 minutes for teardown.
- Points will be deducted if you exceed the 15-minute performance time.
Song Requirements
- Original songs are encouraged but not mandatory.
- Lyrics must be family-friendly unless pre-approved by event organizers.
Gear Provided
- Frontline Gear: PA, speakers, monitors, mics, and mic stands.
- Backline Gear:
- Drum kit (bring your own tearaways and stool).
- Bring your own amps, guitars, pedals, keyboards, and any other personal equipment.
Soundcheck
This is a plug-and-play event—there will be no soundcheck. Be detailed in your registration form to ensure we have everything set up for you. Show us how you thrive under pressure—it’s all part of the competition!
Judging Criteria
Your performance will be evaluated on:
- Planning- Ready on time, followed performance rules, thought out setlist
- Originality- Creativity and uniqueness.
- Audience Interaction- Verbal and physical interaction, engaged audience
- Quality of Performance– Musical skill, improvisation, well rehearsed
- Presentation- Stage presence, “wow” factor, entertaining

- Keep It Clean: Explicit language or gestures discouraged.
